Amber grew up the oldest of three children in a sports-loving family in the small town of Imperial, Missouri. Life always had tremendous momentum due to a whirlwind of extra-curricular activities up through her high school years.  Upon graduating valedictorian, Amber first encountered pilates as a warm-up prior to ballet class at Stephens College where she earned her BFA in Theater Arts. After moving to New York City, she began her musical theater performance career, eventually playing Broadway, off-Broadway, and touring the USA with various productions. Pilates resurfaced briefly for Amber following a severe auto-accident while working on a national tour. In conjunction with aggressive physical therapy, she began some self-education on the therapeutic benefits / focus on alignment/correcting strength imbalances within the pilates system.  Amber recovered and was able to return to the stage where she performed in several Broadway and off-Broadway productions.

Years later, she decided to study the pilates system seriously and elected to do a traditional apprenticeship under Brooke Siler (owner of Re:AB Pilates in New York City) after meeting her at a Career Transitions For Dancers event hosted by Actors' Equity Association. The program is considered the gold-standard for classical pilates training / certification in New York City and has a grueling reputation.  Amber spent a year learning, training, studying, observing, and teaching clients of her own. In addition, she completed three, comprehensive, written and practical teaching exams graded by Brooke before becoming certified in the entire pilates apparatus and mat system.

Since being certified through Brooke Siler's Re:AB Pilates Teacher Training Program, Amber has continued to perform (appeared off-Broadway last year in Irish Repertory Theater's New Girl In Town), and currently teaches pilates all over Manhattan and in Westchester- private and corporately.

In keeping with Amber's mission of lifelong learning, she continues to study and pursue credentials to deepen her work and understanding of body mechanics and movement patterning. She has completed training for RedCord Active Corrective Exercise Intro and Advanced 1 and is studying for her upcoming NASM PES Sports Performance Training exam.

Most recently, Amber had the honor of being featured as the cover model for Women’s Health Big Book of Pilates by Brooke Siler, also appearing within the book modeling level IV (super-advanced) exercises. In addition, an excerpt from the book featuring one of Amber's exercises was displayed in the November 2013 issues of Women’s Health and Prevention magazines. In 2012, she was also selected to demonstrate pilates exercises (taught on-camera by Mari Winsor) for an E-News! promotion featuring Mari’s current pilates DVDs.
